15 years ago, we said, if you change the definition of marriage to allow gay couples to marry, you’d have no argument against legally recognizing polygamous unions.  They said that was a silly slippery slope argument and that our concerns were unrealistic.

Now, we say the same thing, and the response is “well, yes, so what?”

It’s difficult arguing against worldviews that don’t even try to keep their principles consistent, or even value continued change on the principle-level to keep up with “societal progress.”  Just because the populace - especially my generation - is too distracted to take a few seconds to really investigate the basis of their worldview, we take it for granted that we are a law unto ourselves and the only real crime is depriving someone else of the ability to be a law unto him- or herself.
